I’m afraid I’m not getting all the updates I need for some reason..

I have recently installed a fresh Windows and installed all (except for the few known unwanted stuff) the updates that appeared..

The other day I was on the browser and it showed me a notification that I should install Microsoft’s Media Feature Pack (KBsomething) which should have been installed with the rest right?

Today, I was installing a program and it told me I was missing a .NET Framework update!

So whats up with that ? shouldn’t I have received all the updates I need?

The .NET update will be higher than 4.5.1 which is standard on a Win8.1 fresh installation and the program has called for it, this is normal. Go ahead and install/ update it.
The Microsoft’s Media Feature Pack, never encountered that issue after lots of fresh Win8.1 installs..missing codecs?

ok good thank God its normal .. I am running the N version of Windows (without Windows Media Player) so thats why I did not get that update..

what kind of program are you using that requires an updated .NET update?
let Windows Update install KB4486105 for Win8.1, which is the .NET Framework 4.8 package for Win8.1, then whatever program you were using that requires the latest .NET version will work with it

I was installing one of these driver update programs, I dont remember which one exactly as i have installed several.. lol..

But the case is closed anyway.. I was afraid I was not getting all of the updates but it turns out its normal and Microsoft is being a bit conservative..

unless OP is running either Windows 8.1 N or Windows 8.1 KN Edition, which the MS Media Feature pack is required for these specific editions
need to verify Win8.1 edition OP is using by running winver.exe from the Run dialog box

I am not a fan of driver update programs. Some are snake oil, others are malware.
If you need a driver update you can get it directly from the manufacturer.
