Just purchased a new laptop with Win 10 Pro installed.  I jumped through several hoops to keep from setting up a MS account (disconnected from the internet during initial setup, etc.).  I have Office 2007 on the old laptop (Win 7 Home) but was going to purchase the 2019 Office and Student for the Win 10 laptop.  It appears, however, that a Microsoft account is required to install this copy of Office.  So what are my choices – do without MS Office or bite the bullet and create a MS account?  Is there no way around this?  If all else fails, is Office 2007 compatible with Windows 10?

as long as Office 2007 is updated to SP3 level

Not sure what that means.  How do you update Office 2007 to SP3 level?

Office 2007 was a product designed for use with the WindowsXP operating system. WinXP eventually had a Service Pack 3 augment for the operating system. (A good one, by the way) And Office 2007 had it’s own updates along the way as well. Some of those updates also reflected the improvements of WinXP-SP3, both making advantage of system improvements and maintaining compatibility. Using the SP3 reference indicates a minimum level of updating to attempt forward compatibility. If your Office 2007 did not receive updates in the SP3 era, it is less likely to be usable at this late date. The caution expressed is intended to point out that an original copy, without updates applied, may not work.

The only thing you lose by trying the attempt, is time.

Not sure about 2019 but with 2016 you need an ms account to get the true activation key. You do not need to create or setup that account on the device you are installing Office on.

      Never Say Never

I did this for a Microsoft Account:  1. Do not use your regular email account. 2. Setup a new email address:  Here’s an example:  theoff2019@outlook.com  (set up your new account), keep your log in info and this takes care of the problem.  On occasion, check the Outlook.com email for ‘stuff’. . . every 3 months or so.  This will solve your problem

I’ve have no issues with running Office 2007 on Windows 10 Pro Desktop PC, installed directly from the original disk.  I even run Office 2003 SBE on a Windows 10 Pro 1903 laptop without any problems.
