    Issue with \windows\servicing\LCU\Package_for_rollupFix…

I have 3 large folders (each about 1.12 GB) from 3/23, 4/23 and 5/23 Windows 10 H2 64-bit monthly update. One of these folders, or a file in one of these folders (I suspect the 5/23 folder) is causing a big problem when I do backups with Macrium Reflect. Copying the folder (or files in the folder) causes backup to slow to a crawl.

Can I delete 1 (or all three) of these folders; or at least rename them and cut/paste to external drive? Or might this break my Windows installation?

    Thanks to the experts,    CMA

What relevance is the folder in the title? (you should edit the post to remove the html rubbish).

Why not try copying the files to another disk so you can see how long each takes? This should help find the culprit.

      cheers, Paul

        Hi Paul:

Thanks for the quick response. The folder in the title is the same as in the top of the post. I didn’t realize htlm was added to the title and can’t edit. The main idea is that these are rollup files and the folders are over 1 GB: do I need to keep them?

Here’s information (Windows 10 and Windows 11) on LCU folder which is left after Microsoft’s cumulative updates:
      https://www.partitionwizard.com/resizepartition/empty-lcu-folder-in-windows-11.html

To empty LCU folder (of everything but the last update), this method is probably most straight-forward:

      • Open Command Prompt (CMD) as administrator
      • Type: DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup

Thanks for the info. This is totallly counterintuitive.

” Usually, we recommend you delete the latest CU package in the LCU folder. This is because you may encounter broken Windows updates after you clear all contents of the LCU folder.”

          From another source:

Run this in an elevated command prompt. It will remove all but the last (newest) folder in the LCU folder.

          Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup

I like this idea, though it seems to contradict the prior post, since this one keeps the last monthly rollup–makes more sense.
