I’ve had a phone message with screenshot:

    win-10-2004-sml

I’ve been able to stop and block the update (and deleted the hidden upgrade folder for good measure) for the time being until my relative is ready.

I didn’t think the update was going to be released until the end of the month.

It’s a bit hard to tell from the screenshot of a screenshot, but I’d be willing to bet that your correspondent is running Win10 version 1803 (which dropped out of support long ago) and they were about to get 1909.

I don’t see any indication 2004 is waiting in the wings….

Thanks, Woody. You could be right but I wasn’t given enough time to check.

It was right at the end of her working day and she wanted it just dealt with as quickly as possible so she could finish up her work. I may be able to have a better look over the weekend.

That person – depending on if Win10Pro is running, and depending on the feature release deferral settings, is about to get either 1903 or 1909.

… except for Enterprise/Education, which are usually only found in organizations where people should ask their corporate/campus helpdesk first.

      false alarm by RC
it may not be the 2004 version he got
needs to run winver.exe to check Win10 version & edition after a reboot
