I have been “fixing” around 1/3 of our computers over the last few days as they’ve been hit with KB3150513.  Not all computers have been affected the same way.  The most common change is “Make this PC discoverable” is turned OFF instead of ON.  Imagine the havoc on a peer-to-peer network!!  File sharing stops.  SIEM monitoring stops.  A critical issue affecting production operations.  The other change, but not on all computers, is that Password Protected Sharing is changed to ON from OFF.

What version of Windows are you running?
The update is an unchecked optional for Win7/8.1 and should not be installed at this point. You will only see it if KB2952664 (Win7) or KB2976978 (Win8.1) is installed
The updates is “recommended” for Win10.
        This is the description:

This update provides the latest set of definitions for compatibility diagnostics that are performed on the system. The updated definitions help enable Microsoft and its partners to ensure compatibility for all customers who want to install the latest Windows operating system. Installing this update also makes sure that the latest Windows operating system version is correctly offered through Windows Update, based on compatibility results.

In itself, KB3150513 should not make changes as it is only definitions.
However, the diagnostic tasks run on the computer may be making the changes.

KB3150513 is supposed to be only “definitions” for the compatibility diagnosis process.
Perhaps it’s the diagnostic tasks that this provides the fodder for that are breaking things? If it’s Win10 that’s experiencing the problems, maybe the tasks are getting the computers ready for CU?
