      KB2670838 used to be flagged as “evil” in the past. Is this still valid today ?
      .. Asking because my reported current DirectX version differ from source to another

      KB2670838 - The EVIL Update, breaks AERO on Windows 7 and makes some fonts on websites fuzzy

      AFAIK, it has been solved with KB2834140 (must be installed before KB2670838 and after KB2670838)

      not only fixed with KB2834140 but also installing updated graphics drivers from Intel, AMD/ATI or nVidia that are compatible with the KB2670838 & KB2834140 updates.

      also KB2670838 is one of the prerequisite updates to install when installing Internet Explorer 11 on Windows 7 as noted in MS support KB article 2847882. And of course, KB2670838 & KB2834140 are both included in the August 2018 Windows 7 ISO images
