Patch reliability is unclear. Unless you have an immediate, pressing need to install a specific patch, don't do it.

AskWoody PlusWent to manually update Norton360 (Lifelock) and noticed the update was 138.57MB. Went ahead and downloaded on my 20H2 rig. Didn’t require a reboot, but Norton had to close and restart. If you’re missing your system tray icon, you’ll need to go back into settings. For some reason, the update defaults the system tray icon to “off”

AskWoody PlusOn my Windows 10 computers, this kind of Norton version/product update often hides the Norton Security icon in the overflow area, with other hidden icons. I drag the Norton icon out into the system tray.
Whether or not I am instructed to restart after these version/product updates, I always do so, and then do a manual LiveUpdate check. Sometimes there will be additional updates ready at that time, and sometimes not. If there are additional updates, I restart again. Rinse, wash, repeat until there are no more updates showing.
After this latest update, to 22.21.1.151, the manual live update process has been changed to check /download/process first for protection updates, and then second for product updates.
Norton usually sends out an email in advance of version/product updates, but I did not see one this time.

AskWoody PlusJust got another whammy of an update on Norton360 Suite. 136.82MB. A program update, I believe. It did add a way to change settings from the system tray icon. So that was a good thing. They still have the ‘Smart Scan’ option, which isn’t a smart idea. Didn’t see any other features updated or added, so for an update that large, it may have been just a new engine.
