Ever since the latest Windows 10 upgrade I seem to continuously lose my network connection.  I have a small network between mine and my wife’s computer, but it seems to be continuously dropped.  That means I have to go to File Explorer, then to Network and all I get there is ‘Unknown Device’.  But if I click on the right arrow, it shows my computer and then hooks up properly.  If I leave Network and then go back in, the same ‘Unknown Device’ is all I get.  Her computer uses the printers that are hooked to my desktop and it’s a pain having to do this all the time.  There must be an easier way for me to permanently establish the network connection.

    Any advise would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

You connect to the other computer and then it can print?
What happens if the other computer tries to print before you connect?
Can you create a shortcut once you are connected and then double click it when there is an issue?

      cheers, Paul

        Thanks for the reply.

The printer is hooked up to my desktop.  The other computer (a laptop) is networked to my desktop and I share the printer with it but, when I look at ‘Network’ in File Explorer, it doesn’t show the network just ‘Unknown Device’.  If I click on the drop down menu, then I can see the desktop computer and, when I click that, it connects.

The problem is I have to do that every time I start the laptop and want to print.  It is rather inconvenient and I am sure their must be a way for the network to be connected every time both machines are running.

        Thanks.

Network Discovery may not be running on the laptop. See if the solutions in this article help.

        Paul,

Thanks.  I will try working through these and see if any of them fix the problem.

        Thanks again.
