M-Soft updates foul up my attached monitor

I use Steve Gibson’s InControl to prevent going to 2H2.  I thought I had turned off automatic updates.

This morning, when I booted up, M-soft informed me they had updated my machine and I needed to restart.  When I did, my system went through2 firmware updates to the BIOS.

When I restarted I lost my attached monitor.

How do I prevent ALL updates (including firmware) from automatically screwing up my system?

Never ever update BIOS using Microsoft updates.
Update BIOS directly from your PC’s OEM.

Use WUmgr for Windows updates so you can hide/un-hide/download/install selected updates.

Thanks! I’ll use that.  The point of my question was that I thought that I had turned off all ways for M-!@#$ to update my system; and, also, that the last thing I would want is to have my BIOS updated without me being given a chance to say: No way!

When I booted up my system this morning those updates had been applied overnight w/o me saying: OK.

BTW, it turns out that Dell was the one automatically updating my firmware.  I did an online search and found a way to turn that off from happening: F2, go into BIOS, turn off firmware updates.

Whatever happened to the notion that these are PERSONAL computers?
