Malware lockup Dell laptop Win 11

My wife has a Dell laptop running windows 11. When she boots it up the screen appears locked with a windows defender app claiming a malware infection and insisting we call a help phone line.

Is there any way to check this? We can’t scan w/ Malwarebytes since the machine is locked up.

Sounds like a “scareware” scam. Try booting into safe mode and running malwarebytes.
