The April patch for Windows 10 Pro 22H2 fixed for me the very slow copy over the network.
Now I get 100MB/s instead of 5-30MB/s over 1Gb/s network.

      Hello Susan

A while back you presented a couple of registry changes for use with the 22H2 update. One stopped the download of Win 10 22H2, and another that removed that registry change to allow the update of the 22h2 update.

For various reasons, I no longer have the 2nd registry edit that would allow the update of 22H2, which you now OK for download.

If this is not the right forum, tho it is about patches, please direct me.

Thanks to you or any others who may have this edit for the registry

      Robert

      Susan:

Is it OK to install KB5025239 for Windows 11 Pro?  I have read that it causes problems with the taskbar and perhaps other problems.  What do you think?

      Thanks,

      Mark

The problem is with “tweaked” Taskbars by third party programs, not with the Win11 native Taskbar.

If you are running StartAllBack you need to update it to the latest version fo it to work right.
I am running the latest version of StartAllBack. on 3 Win11 installs and having no problems with it.
It also may affect other UI tweaking programs that alter the Registry to change the GUI appearance.

I have the native taskbar, so I assume I am OK from what you wrote.  I decided to delay the patch for another week to be sure that it was harmless or that Microsoft would fix it.

They will fix it, won’t they (eventually)?

Microsoft doesn’t “fix” their changes because they own the changes.
The third-party UI tweaking program vendors (surprise you guys!) have to scramble to fix their programs so they work again. 🙂 🙂

Just setting up a brand new desktop with 11 Pro already installed (11H22 build 22621.1265) and KB5025239 installed. It was hanging during restart so I rolled that patch back as that was an issue others have encountered and seemed to fix the issue. All updates paused for as long as I can BUT this morning powered on and message that updates being installed (WT?) and now it is hanging in restart – requires forced power off so I am thinking I might have to restore my first backup from delivery and rebuild everything. Thoughts anyone???

The April patch for Windows 10 Pro 22H2 fixed for me the very slow copy over the network.
Now I get 100MB/s instead of 5-30MB/s over 1Gb/s network.

the slow copy issue was first addressed/fixed with the KB5022913 update, Alex5723
Microsoft finally corrected/updated MS support article 5022845 (the February 2023 update before the actual copy fix) around early May to state that the problem is fixed in KB5022913:
      https://support.microsoft.com/help/5022845

Copying large multiple gigabyte (GB) files might take longer than expected to finish on Windows 11, version 22H2. You are more likely to experience this issue copying files to Windows 11, version 22H2 from a network share via Server Message Block (SMB) but local file copy might also be affected.Windows devices used by consumers in their home or small offices are not likely to be affected by this issue.

This issue is addressed in KB5022913.

it’s just that the MS support folks who publish those support KB articles were a few months late in recognizing the slow copy problem and have “removed” that issue from the “known issues” section from MS articles 5022913, 5023706 to 5025305.

I don’t care what Microsoft says about the problem.
For me it has been “fixed” with April updates.
