You will note that I recommend that you defer at least temporarily the big releases that Apple came out with yesterday. You’ll want to hold off a bit and ensure there are no major issues.
Zero-day vulnerability patched in iOS 16.1 / iPadOS 16.1
Available for: iPhone 8 and later, iPad Pro (all models), iPad Air 3rd generation and later, iPad 5th generation and later, iPad mini 5th generation and later
Impact: An application may be able to execute arbitrary code with kernel privileges. Apple is aware of a report that this issue may have been actively exploited.
Description: An out-of-bounds write issue was addressed with improved bounds checking.
CVE-2022-42827: an anonymous researcher
Please remind me: I set that version-limiting gpedit setting to Win 10 v 21H2 and also paused updates into November.
If I now go to Windows Updates and hit the “Resume Updates” button, will it stick to Win 10 v 21H2 and its monthly update (which I want) or override that gpedit setting and install new v 22H2?
Thanks.
For Windows 11 21H2 and 22H2 the one recommended install for each is reversed. Both patch number and link for each Version’s Cumulative update are on the wrong Win 11 Version.
Windows 11 Version 22H2 should be patch number 5018427 (and it’s corresponding link), not 5018418.
Windows 11 Version 21H2 should be patch number 5018418 (and it’s corresponding link), not 5018427.
Win 10 Pro 64-bit 21H2, Office 2019.
Win 7 Pro 64-bit, Office 2010.
Win 11 Pro 21H2.
Nethermost of the technically literate.
OK, it’s totally possible this is SOP and I just never noticed it before this, so bear with me.
I went into advanced options and set my pause update date to November 30, 2022, however the main Windows Update settings page says, “Updates will resume on 11/29/2022”. What gives? Does this mean updates will be queued up to automatically install on the 29th or the 30th?
I use “wushowhide” as well, but I’ve been suspicious updates are getting pushed after the pause date expires regardless (I think).
Am I nuts? Just confused? Is MS trying to pull a fast one on us? 🙂
Thanks!
