A couple of weeks ago, MS threw up a prompt asking me to upgrade to Windows 11, despite me having GP set to stay on Windows 10 21H2. When I declined, it then proceeded to download the .NET p[review  update, without giving me the option to stop it. I had no adverse effects, but did not appreciate the MS pushy behaviour.

After installing Windows 10 21H2 June cumulative update, when Internet Connection Sharing is enabled on a USB Ethernet connection, Internet access is lost on that connection.  The connection it is shared with does have Internet access, though.  Sharing a WiFi Ethernet connection does not seem to be affected.  Uninstalling the June cumulative update fixes the problem.

That site just scrapes questions from a bunch of other places.

The question was asked (and answered?) at Microsoft Community.

            Reddit (r/Windows10) – Cumulative Updates: June 14th, 2022

            https://www.reddit.com/r/Windows10/comments/vc8i2v/comment/icgqtz9/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

            1) “Anyone else has a problem with internet when using Hotspot? When I turn on the hotspot, the applications on my laptop (host) (e.g. Chrome) are unable to use internet. At the same time devices that connect via the Hotspot, work just fine.”

            2) “Just started seeing the same problem. What’s strange is that I can ping websites, but the apps themselves keep timing out when the hotspot is on. Devices using to the hotspot connect fine though, and turning off the hotspot lets the pc have internet again.
            -EDIT-
I ended up rolling back KB5014699 as a workaround (which did work), since nothing I tried helped with this. I also paused updates for now and sent a bug report.”

              FYI,

Microsoft has now acknowledged and are investigating the issue:

Unable to connect to internet when using Wi-Fi hotspot feature
              —————————————————————
After installing KB5014697, Windows devices might be unable use the Wi-Fi hotspot feature. When attempting to use the hotspot feature, the host device might lose the connection to the internet after a client device connects.

Workaround: To mitigate the issue and restore internet access on the host device, you can disable the Wi-Fi hotspot feature. For instructions, please see Use your Windows PC as a mobile hotspot.

Next steps: We are presently investigating and will provide an update in an upcoming release.

I can confirm the Mobile Network sharing bug, though on a 2.5G on-board NIC rather than a USB.

Took me a while to figure it out as I have a script that starts it on log on.

Question: After the May 2022 updates and reboot, my IPV6 is no longer available.

      IPV 4 is fine.

Could this be an issue with the May Updates?

For me, Windows Update has just started ignoring Group Policies. I have Quality updates deferred 25 days. However, last night it downloaded the June Cum update for W10 21H2, only 3 days after release. A couple of weeks ago it tried to push me to W11 and then installed the .Net May preview. My wife’s laptop, with the same software configuration, behaved normally.

      Anyone else seen this problem?

Did you click “Check for updates”?
If you do that, it will ignore Group Policy settings (including Deferrals, Pause, etc) and download/install any pending updates.

        Win10 Pro 21H2 Build 19044.1706

I think I had the same experience as Chris B.  Windows Update is paused.  I did not click “Check for Updates”.  Nonetheless, Windows Update page in settings told me the June updates had downloaded and asked me to click to install – which I did not.  There was also a Windows Update icon in the system tray with an orange dot prompting me to install – I did not click.

I looked in View Update History and found that the June 2022 quality update has not installed.  The Malicious Software Removal Tool update for June 2022 did install.

I checked in c:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download\ and the June updates are there – downloaded but not installed.

An hour or so later, the update icon in the system tray had disappeared, and the notice on the Windows Update page asking me to click to install had also disappeared – reverting back to Updates Paused.

According to rumors, To avoid expense, Microsoft has hired novice Indian coders. I don’t understand the logic of offering the patch for Download without even testing it

It is tested, but sometimes items are missed.  Using the internet connection/hotspot isn’t a businessy thing.  They test more for corporate users.
