For those here who use one or the other, Adobe has released an update for Acrobat DC and Acrobat Reader DC.

Your system may need to be restarted after the update before either program is usable again.

        A separate issue:
Why the adobe flash on my Chredge remains at version 32.0.0.363?

        • #2261974

you need to wait – Flash will eventually be updated for ChrEdge to v32.0.0.371 which is again a non-security release

          • #2262201

            Updated!
I started the “Microsoft Edge Elevation Service” service and the update was completed in the Chredge components.

Checked my NAS a couple of minutes, and those updates were queued for download, so I’ve got them going now.  I don’t anticipate any hiccups, but will update if anything untoward occurs.

Since May KB4556799 includes the April 21st KB4550945 which was reported as full of problems, were the problems corrected within the May release?

            Opps.
The May 1909 CU hasn’t been out long enough to answer your question.
Did you look on the MS support page to see what problems they recognize?

            • #2261987

              Yeah (None – of course!)

But yesterday the optional April KB was problematic, rolled it into the May update and no problems – hmmmm

That’s why I was asking if MS made some fixes or?

No issues on my space-constrained (32 Gb eMMC) Toshiba laptop running W10H_1909x64 which processed everything offered (W10 CU, MSRT, .NET CU) without trouble in one go.

My Win7Ux64-ESU desktop took 3 steps, as I untoggled the .NET offering as usual for the first go (Rolllup, MSRT, Excel 2010 security update), rebooted and then installed the .NET update next.  Following the 2nd reboot and WU check, the new SSU was offered and was digested without problems.

My other W10Hx64 laptop with plenty of storage is in waiting until I re-enable the WU process after feedback from Woody & Susan.

Mary Jo Foley of ZDNet recently reported that Windows 10 version 2004 has just been released to developers / MSDN

For those of you running the beta version of Win10 2004, there’s a patch waiting just for you — KB 4556803, which brings your build number up to 19041.264. Noteworthy improvements include “updated the 2020 start date for daylight saving time (DST) in the Kingdom of Morocco.”

Installed without any issues after restart.

A more noteworthy improvement is that Windows Update Cleanup actually works for the first time in three months:

      – We fixed an issue that prevents cleaning tools, such as Disk Cleanup, from removing previously installed updates.

I go where angel’s fear to tread; installed all OS updates (haven’t the Office 2016 updates yet).   Was curious how PrimoCache would perform and it did not disappoint.  The updates, during the boot phase, appears at least 3 times faster than usual so I’m stoked especially considering this is supposedly the 3rd biggest update of all time.   Biggest take is my system didn’t crash.  lololol

We fixed an issue that prevents cleaning tools, such as Disk Cleanup, from removing previously installed updates.

Didn’t Microsoft announced that they will Deprecate Disk Cleanup in Windows 10 2004 ?

“Recently Microsoft has announced that they will deprecate Disk Cleanup utility in Windows 10 and to use Storage Sense to automatically free up disk space by getting rid of unnecessary or temporary files.”

      https://www.minitool.com/news/deprecate-disk-cleanup.html

      • #2262139

Didn’t Microsoft announced that they will Deprecate Disk Cleanup in Windows 10 2004 ?

The Microsoft announcement was actually before Version 1809, but Disk Cleanup wasn’t removed:

        Disk Cleanup Deprecation

The Disk Cleanup experience (“cleanmgr.exe”) is being deprecated. We’re retaining the Disk Cleanup tool for compatibility reasons. There’s no need to worry since Storage Sense’s functionality is a superset of what the legacy Disk Cleanup provides!

[First published on TECHNET on Aug 30, 2018]
        (last paragraph)

In Version 2004 until now, Windows Update Cleanup would never delete any files whether selected from Disk Cleanup, System files or from Settings, Storage, Temporary files, Remove files.

The Microsoft announcement was actually before Version 1809, but Disk Cleanup wasn’t removed:

So why announce a feature removal that will happen in years to come ?

      • #2262257

To give folk who use batch files and/or those who require lengthy test times the chance to change before it is officially removed.

Starting May 2020, the MSRT will be released on a quarterly cadence.

For Windows 7 Home Premium without ESU and Zero Patch, would you take the time to install the Mary 2020 MRST v5.82 KB890830?

Does it really do anything since I don’t use Windows Defender, or should I take the time to install it or should I hide it.

      Thanks for the information.

Last night before I trundled off to bed, I rebooted into the B side of my Windows 10 Pro dual boot, and left it signed out.  This morning,

KB4556799 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1909 for x64-based Systems
KB4552931 Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.5 for Windows 10 Version 1909 for x64
KB890830 Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool x64 -v5.82

had been installed and the off-duty restart accomplished.  The same updates were pushed to my laptop at 6:37AM.  They were downloaded and installed, awaiting restart.  I restarted.

      No hiccups anywhere.

A message for W8.1 64 bit users who like me may see weird Explorer behaviour following a monthly Windows update every few months.

I first noticed this a couple of years ago when I started looking at W8.1 as a medium term replacement for W7, but noticed that following an update I was unable to recover a downloaded file from a Sandboxie sandbox, or rename a folder or in some scenarios drag and drop a file from an Explorer window to another – all Explorer related activities. I commented about this at the time and a couple of people replied that they had similar problems – see https://www.askwoody.com/forums/topic/we-continue-at-ms-defcon-1-dont-install-any-of-the-july-patches/#post-209829 .

My problems were fixed by deleting 2 Registry keys – more details at the link above. These Registry keys have re-appeared every few months, causing the Explorer problems to re-appear. On their deletion the problems were fixed.

Well these 2 Keys have re-appeared again this month, so those people (and others?) may need to delete them again. The Registry keys are:

      [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FolderDescriptions\{6365D5A7-0F0D-45e5-87F6-0DA56B6A4F7D}]

      [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FolderDescriptions\{6D809377-6AF0-444b-8957-A3773F02200E}]

Note: It is customary to warn people to make a backup before tweaking the Registry, so “make a backup before tweaking the Registry” 🙂

Non-techy person here:  I have updates paused until June 18 and thought I had both networks (regular and 5G) on metered connection.  Turns out only one was on metered connection.  I regularly leave my Acer Windows 10 Home laptop in hibernation overnight.   This morning when I touched the Power button, updates started installing-yikes!  I now have the latest .net, Defender and KB 4556799.  How could this have happened when updates are paused?  (I always wait for Defcon 3 before installing updates.) Thanks!

    • #2263024

Both LAN and Wi-Fi should be on metered connections.

    • #2263078

Win10 1909 64-bit.  Downloaded May CU KB4556799 from MS Update Catalog, standalone installed OK, stable for 3 days.

    • #2265305

Yesterday, after first backing up my computer, I installed  KB4556799 (Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1909 for x64-based Systems) and KB4552931 (Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.5 for Windows 10 Version 1909 for x64) without any problems. I am now running  Win 10 Pro 1909.18363.836.

I have permanently blocked the installation of MRST. I have never benefited from using it.
