Such a wise word has been written, Jerry. Thanks.
This Lenovo runs fine but it can be sacrificed, this is why I would not mind trying the 9888. I will be patient and wait then for January 2015. This is fun.
I have an older Toshiba that took W-8 until I had to donate $119.00 of my hard earned pension funds. I tried to install TP over the W-8 but ti did not carry. Any idea why it would honour W-8 but not W-10 ???
Thanks for your continued advices. Jean.

Did you do an upgrade install or a clean install? What were the error messages? Is it truly Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 which along with Windows 10 has more stringent system requirements.
Jerry
Jerry, good morning. I do not take your interest for granted.
I did a clean install, it vacated totally W-7, I had a clone done just prior to the W-8, not W-8.1 ! I was prepared and cloned it back to W-7.
The message was as far as I can remember, “W-10 has encountered a problem and will quit” or words to this effect. I went back to the W-7 clone as my budget could not justify redoing the W-8 install. As far as the more stringent requirements, the W-10 install went through the same rigmarole ( Checking a few items here ) as to tell me that a few of my apps would not run but it accepted the initial few steps of the installation, it only quit after, maybe, 10 minutes.
The Toshiba is 6 year old, 1.86 CPU, 3 MBs of RAM, 23% of an 80 GBs HD used.
Food for thought ??? Have a great day. Jean.
Hard for me to say Jean. I assume you meant 3 gigs of memory rather than 3 MB. It could be a driver issue or perhaps a lack of space on the 80 gig hard drive to do the install.
You might try formatting the hard drive prior to the install to increase the space available. Just grasping at straws.
Jerry
Jerry, a funny for you. After, rebooting that old Toshiba, I was able to LAN to all my other machines and no question asked. They all were available on the Toshiba screen by only a click of the mouse, no password, no nothing. I could Copy from one to another at will. The Lenovo, the first W-10 TP machine, is still reluctant to do this, I have at times, to resort to a USB key to transfer some data. These machines will never cease to amaze me.
Jean.
