So now, on Windows 11, in addition to the ads in the settings app and the scareware and ads in the start ‘menu’, we have ads in the help app. Not to mention ChatGPT taking over more and more of everything and Edge being increasingly, well, Edge.

But I think that Microsoft is really missing a trick.
For example, do users really need to choose their own wallpapers and screensavers? Surely those are some prime real estate for full screen ads.
And why stop there? Microsoft stopped having its startup and shutdown sounds on by default a while back, but why not bring them back? Except instead of synthesised sounds, we could have Cortana offering us deals on Microsoft 365 (automatically renews for full price after 6 months).

Any other ideas? The mouse cursor slowly moving itself across the screen to various Microsoft subscription buttons, perhaps?

This post was brought to you by both sarcasm and an increasing urge to move fully to Mac.

        I did.

Always create a fresh drive image before making system changes/Windows updates; you may need to start over!
We were all once "Average Users". We all have our own reasons for doing the things that we do with our systems, we don't need anyone's approval, and we don't all have to do the same things.

Well if you still wish to be tormented by Windows, you can on a Mac with Bootcamp on the fading fast intel Macs or with Parallels on the newer faster Apple silicon and if you choose to network with a Windoze machine Mac allows you to have this little amusing “BSOD homage” on your desktop. Some one in Cuppertino has a sense of humour. 🙂
