Clues about what it manages and how it boosts performance might be useful, otherwise it’s just another Amazon/Ebay/Walmart empty boast.

The current beta actually does a little ‘cleaning’ which ‘your’ version didn’t.

Good to read about Windows XP in the present tense, too.

“Must try harder” comes to mind – was this a kindergarten project, or Fisher-Price’s My First AI App?

Hasn’t the Redmond PC Manager been in beta since 29th July 2015? /s

Clues about what it manages and how it boosts performance might be useful,

      Microsoft PC Manager key features:

Storage Manager- easily uninstall infrequently used apps, manage large files, perform a cleanup, and set up Storage Sense to automatically clear temporary files.

Health Checkup feature -scans for potential problems, viruses, and startup programs to turn off. It helps you identify unnecessary items to remove, optimizing your system’s performance.

Pop-up Management – block pop-up windows from appearing in apps.

Windows Update – scans your system for any pending updates.

Startup Apps – enable or disable startup apps on your PC, allowing you to optimize your system’s startup performance.

Browser Protection – rest assured that harmful programs cannot alter your default browser. Also enables you to change your default browser.

Process Management – allows you to conveniently terminate any active process, ensuring optimal system performance and resource utilization.

Anti-virus protection – Fully integrated with Windows Security. Safeguard your PC anytime.

Storage Manager- easily uninstall infrequently used apps, manage large files, perform a cleanup, and set up Storage Sense to automatically clear temporary files.

I manage my storage.  I have 19 partitions dedicated to particular categories of files (including large files).  I don’t want my infrequently used apps uninstalled just because I use them infrequently—I only need them infrequently.

Health Checkup feature -scans for potential problems, viruses, and startup programs to turn off. It helps you identify unnecessary items to remove, optimizing your system’s performance.

Microsoft Defender and Malwarebytes already run daily scans.  I’ve been through Services and turned off all the programs I don’t want to startup.  I have my system performance satisfactorily optimized.

Etcetera, so forth and so on.  The rest is a list of common setup items I took care of years ago.  Cleanmgr.exe runs a daily extended cleanup via Task Scheduler.  My SSD’s get trimmed on a weekly schedule.  My systems stay optimized.  My Windows Updates run automatically after Active hours.  In my experience, this is all routine maintenance, and Task Scheduler takes care of all of my routine maintenance, including weekly drive images.

Always create a fresh drive image before making system changes/Windows updates; you may need to start over!
We were all once "Average Users". We all have our own reasons for doing the things that we do to our systems, we don't need anyone's approval, and we don't all have to do the same things.

Did Neowin just copy some ancient blurb too?

Y’all could do with spending some time actually using/testing before you post/advertise randomly collected articles with ‘interesting’ names.

‘Your’ Beta version of Storage Manager couldn’t perform a cleanup. ‘Easily uninstall infrequently used apps’ – tricky without any way of filtering to ‘last used on… ‘.

Pop-up Management didn’t put in an appearance on either Beta.

That’s not all I could pick holes in, go on – do a number on it for yourself, get some further education and post your own opinion on it.

To see Pop-up management you must click on “security” at the bottom. “Pop-up Management” is the last entry in that section.

Pretty much all this app does is centralize the access to functions that already exist in Windows. It might end up being easier for less experienced users to find this sort of functionality rather than searching the myriad of places that currently exist.

As far as some functions not working, it is a BETA release.

Releasing even a Beta with headlining functions inoperable probably indicates the devs are still in Beta too.

        • #2547722

I’ve been using it for five months. A few functions have been added during that time; I’m not aware of any that don’t work.

Does it “Boost your PC’s performance”?

      • #2547785

Probably not (but no harm either). I’ve just been keeping an eye on its development and waiting for it to do anything useful before mentioning it here.

It does remove excess temporary files VERY quickly and simply.

I had 18GB free disk space after a restart, but one click made it 30GB free.

(Just looking for any positives here.)

Antivirus, Cleanup PC, protection for your computer | Microsoft PC Manager version 3.0.0 beta. No hints on the website about what’s new.

      Downloads from officeplus.cn, apparently.

I think it is a Chinese developed app.
