This explains why my servers (2019) are generating 100’s of installation errors on KB4052623 since yesterday.

same here. no Items Skipped” messages after updating the Windows Defender antimalware client to v4.18.2003.8 manually with KB4052623 3/24/2020 release from MS Catalog

need to be using Win10 versions between v1607 to most recent releases (1903/1909/2004) in order to install KB4052623

So 10’s Defender will automatically update itself with a “Working” Fix along with whatever new virus definition updates. But I’ll wait a few more days as I’ve been keeping my Windows 10(1809) Home laptop offline anyways waiting for DEFCON3 or above. I did have it online to get Defender updates about one week ago as my new laptop’s third party AV trial had expired and I needed to update Defender’s virus/other definitions after Defender took over when I uninstalled the third part AV trial software.

I’ve had no issues with Defender but have only used its once as the laptop 10/1809-Home laptop mostly been used while offline.

      Fixed now on my servers.

I use O&O ShutUp10 to eliminate telemetry being sent to Microsoft. Fortunately I made an ‘OEM’ profile before making changes as to what is being sent to Microsoft.

I reverted back to the ‘OEM’ profile and the KB4052623 update was successfully install on both servers after a reboot. Apparently, no telemetry, no av platform updates, at least on the servers.

No problem on my Windows 10.1809 machines.
