Ping us on the AskWoody Lounge.Yes.
(Isn’t that why you recommended three weeks ago that everyone should update to 1703?
“… for those of you running Windows 10, I don’t see a better alternative.”)

AskWoody LoungerSeptember 26, 2017 at 5:13 am #134263We understand you’re desperate to defend M$ and W10, but reality is that those things Woody said were then (meaning you went picking through the archives to dig them up) and, since then Creators Update has devolved into a bigger mess than its predecessor. He isn’t God who can see everything bug before it comes, and no company is better at releasing unready code than anybody else.
Fortran, C++, R, Python, Java, Matlab, HTML, CSS, etc.... coding is fun!

ManagerSeptember 26, 2017 at 5:23 am #134267Thanks for the backup! 🙂
I recommended that people move to 1703 “for all the wrong reasons” — not because it was better, but because the situation with 1607 patching was so bad.
Now, it seems, the situation with 1703 patching has fallen off a cliff.
I still can’t believe that anybody is testing this stuff. How on earth could MS roll out updates that breaks Edge so thoroughly, and conflicts with default registry settings on modern HP computers? Then, once those problems are identified, it takes two weeks to get a replacement – and the replacement is not only out of band, it’s issued on a Monday.
Sigh.

AskWoody PlusSeptember 26, 2017 at 9:15 am #134293Woody, this demonstrates the value of the Windows Insiders program. (As in, LACK OF value…)

Well, I looked back three weeks; hardly ancient history.

Yes. (Isn’t that why you recommended three weeks ago that everyone should update to 1703? “… for those of you running Windows 10, I don’t see a better alternative.”)
Let’s put your selected quote in context… Here’s the start of the article you referenced…
“It’s time to move to Win10 Creators Update – for all the wrong reasons
If you’re using Windows 10, you should consider moving to version 1703 — not because it’s better, but because Microsoft has s****** up 1607 patches so royally.”And now here’s the entire quote you so carefully edited for your argument:
” I don’t feel good about recommending it, but for those of you running Win10, I don’t see a better alternative.”
None of that says to me that Windows 10 Creators Update is automatically the best and most reliable version of Windows 10, merely the lesser of two evils given the increasingly s****** up patching of the previous version.

GuestNovember 17, 2017 at 1:48 pm #1461091709 on wifi just destroyed being able to run anything stable and when the cu filtered down it was worse, tried it two times both rolling back to 1703.
Some of the issues were with power settings in both power options and device manager, but also wifi settings.
Now cu for nov. 2017 slow as molasses on a 300 mbps download and the installation prossess taking even longer, granted it is only a six core cpu running at 800 to 3.3 ghz with 8gig of ddr3 ram but this way slow .
