I am guessing your already set up with a local Account on your Machine, if not the following link should hopefully help you cancel it should it have been set up inadvertently:
For One Drive and one or two other features I use an M$ Account, but I never let it take over the machine. Just limiting it to the Apps I use. Needs a bit of care here as you need to read carefully and select “Microsoft Apps only.”
You may well have to set up a Microsoft account, but use the Web page, sign up if needs be, note down the details and sign in accordingly to One Drive (normally lurking unseen on the task Bar just right click). Taking care when you do to select “Microsoft Apps only.” Its tricky but not impossible don’t make the mistake like I made many years back by rushing it and not reading properly lol 😉
Here’s a few links of Interest that might help:

Microsoft Account vs. Local Account – Why not both?

I don’t forsee a problem just to use One Drive, just make sure you select “Microsoft Apps only”
        Hope that works 🙂
