I can find no official statement from Netgear. However I have seen several rumors.

However, if you go to Netgear.com and search for NAS, READYNAS or server you will get no results for NAS hardware. All references to NAS hardware for home, small business and rack mount server equipment has vanished from the website.

However Amazon still has listings for Netgear NAS hardware from $300 to $12,000.

What kind of company does this to it’s customers?

The Netgear support pages for NAS are still intact. Scroll down and hit the “Network Storage” button.

But you are right about new gear listings. I don’t see NAS listed.

That is no rumor.   Being in a biz in a vertical market that employs NAS, I have a direct connection.  It is indeed true that Netgear is getting out of the NAS.  Their big focus will be on PoE products since the AV business widely uses them.  Consumer products will not be affected.
