Yep, it’s Sunday. Looks like we have new cumulative updates for all versions of Win10 and all related versions of Server. That, combined with the Win7

so, uk citizens living outside the UK needing to access HSTS govt websites, using a different language device, how will this work? manual install or automatic? Does this work by language selected or country IP?

On my Win8.1 machine in the US, KB4505050is offered as an UNCHECKED OPTIONAL update that I could check and install if needed.

the problem that arises here is, some people do not install optionals unchecked.

I have added KB4505050, the fix for IE11 HSTS for gov.uk websites for Win7/8.1,  to AKB2000003 for Group B and anyone else who needs to download it.

also a new patch for 1803 as well (KB4499183) [build 17134.799] – replaces KB4505064 update

The KB4497934 update for 1809 replaces the KB4505056 patch, so those gov.uk Win10 fixes for 1803/1809 are now rendered moot.

Ok, what’s with the “cumulative” thing anyway?

On one 1809 system that got offered KB4494441, I manually downloaded the KB4505056 .msu instead. Except, that one wouldn’t install, as in it said it doesn’t apply to this computer. (Localized message, not in English. Original install language local, same as in that dialog box; current user interface language and app default language was set to English/UK.)

Yes, checked that it was the correct architecture version (x64).

So. I conclude that KB4505056 is actually not a cumulative update then…? I mean, if it were, it should apply if you’d want to go from 17763 .475 or earlier to something that works with .gov.uk websites, right?

… right, apparently this was a SSU problem. Shouldn’t believe Microsoft about those.
Because even though Microsoft says both KB4494441 and KB4505056 have KB4499728 as a prerequisite, apparently being offered KB4494441 doesn’t mean you have the prerequisite…
