I rarely check “Notify me of follow-up replies via email” in threads that will have a lot of replies because the notifications don’t stop unless I unsubscribe.

What I would like to see is action similar to how this notify function works on other forums, which is you get ONE notification of the first new post/reply and then nothing more until you visit the forum.

Is this possible to implement?

I’d have to investigate with the bbpress software developer.  Do you have a sample forum I can look at to see what they use/what they do?

Here’s one forum I am in.  Below is what is received with each email.  This is not uncommon, I have seen it on others.

There may also be other replies, but you will not receive any more notifications until you visit the forum again.
