Is this possibly a Preview Update that’s not labelled as such?

I have gp notification 2 enabled.
pic 1 is from this morning, pic 2 shows CU installed on Nov 10.

        should I just hide it?

First, look in “Installed Updates” (NOT Update History) and see what has been installed.
The SSU KB4586864 and/or the CU KB4586781. If you haven’t installed the second one, I think you will find the SSU installed and not the CU.

Here’s what I think ia happening:
The SSU is never listed in Windows Update, but it is bundled with the CU and has to be installed first. It presents itself with the CU’s KB number instead of its own.
After the SSU is installed, the CU installs, so it appears that the CU has installed twice.
But if you look in “Installed Updates” you will see both the SSU and the CU with different KB numbers, not the CU twice.

So you need to install the second one after you’ve looked to verify.

What do you expect? This is Microsoft we’re talking about!!!!!

I’d let it go ahead and download. It probably will just disappear if it’s already installed.

so here’s what happened on clicking Download:
              it installed the security update,
              then
went from 0% to 100% on the CU,then
restarted the CU, went quickly from 0% to 10% then
at EACH % from 10 to 18 it took about a minute then
went quickly to 45% quickly to 75% paused for about 3 minutes
and finally finished after about 13 minutes.
The installed updates then still looked same as pic 3,
              so it didn’t reinstall.
              bizarre, that’s all.

              cheers

                Seems Win10 even confuses itself!

here’s how it looks on my 2nd pc that has no update restrictions.
Curious that it didn’t just re-install.

that update (on 2nd pc) has now reinstalled and changed the install date.
I will also release for re-install on 1st pc.

            so it’s still confused.

              just to put a bow on this;

the date change on the 2nd pc only changed the instal date in Quality update view it did not change the date in installed updates view.

Neither date was changed on the 1st pc when I released it.

Seems like I’m talking to myself today. (How to have an intelligent conversation)

You are worrying too much about this.
If you end up with one (1) CU and one (1) SSU in the Installed  Updates, Windows Update has done it’s job.
And this month, 2004/20H2 got SSUs, but sometimes they won’t, so you might only find one (1) CU.
