@Peobody
Your GeForce GT 650M is a Kepler series GPU and, according to NVIDIA’s Support Plan for Kepler-series GeForce GPUs for notebooks.
effective April 2019 Critical security updates will be available on systems utilizing mobile Kepler-series GPUs through April 2020.
So they won’t be issuing a security update for it!
For users of Linux Mint if you don’t see a security update and you use Nvidia check your update manager. If you’re like me and temporarily ignore non-security updates it may be there. I think the security update I installed came as a regular update until it’s status was changed.
Installing the new drivers also required upgrading to a later kernel
For those running Windows 10 and 11, there was a newer driver released on Thursday, the 1st., and it contains patches for a few known issues with some earlier driver releases. Read the release notes for driver version 526.98 (the version that contains the security hole patches) and if you’re not affected by any of the known issues listed in section 3.2 of the release notes, then you’re probably OK to install that version. If you are affected by one of them, look at the release notes for version 527.37 (the one released on Dec. 1st.) and see if that version fixes your issue(s). If it does, then install that one. Fixes for known issues are contained in section 3.1 of the release notes for each new driver release.
