Color me dubious about any useful “future features”.  I’m STILL waiting for the ones that were promised for Windows 7 “Ultimate”.  😉

After reading your interesting piece on “Office” := “Microsoft”  (remember “:=” in Algol means “becomes equal to”) I decided to try MS Edit on a sample 60 page Word document. It found  a total of 39 ‘problems’. Of these 38 were instances where there were two spaces and it felt one was enough, and in one case where there was no space and it felt one was appropriate.

Whoopy doo! AI saves the day!

Ah – perhaps that was unfair? I discovered that in the Editor settings, many checks were turned off. Turning them all on produced – exactly the same result!

What about the Money feature coming to Excel? Will act like old MS Money and download financial data from your banking institutions? I believe it’s part of the ‘upgrade’ to Microsoft 365.

… considering that there already exists a parallel group of “Microsoft 365” packages that follow the same naming scheme as Office 365 (Eg, F1, E3, E5).  That there’s 8 versions of O365, not including the versions included in M365 means that this is going to become even more of a mess.

The only reason I can think of them doing this is that they want to break up the big three (Outlook, Word, Excel) and start monetising the individual parts more.  Why else break the iconic “Microsoft Office” package name?
