I have three computers in the house – my desktop (Win 10 Pro), my wife’s laptop (Win 10) and my laptop (Win 10) which I use when I travel or when the desktop is in the shop as it is now. I have a licence for Office 2010 that supposedly covers all three machines. With my desktop in the shop, I am using my laptop to do my work. When I went to open an existing Excel spreadsheet, this big square box displayed asking me if I wanted to confirm my account. It asked if “I wanted to try, buy, or activate Office with this account.” I have been using the various Office components on this computer for many years and have never had this “opening” request”, so I don’t know what to do about it. I checked my account on Microsoft and it shows I have three machines and that “everything looks good” on the two laptops and that the desktop is “turned off”. So if MS recognizes the three machines and that one is turned off, then why am I getting this sequence of boxes requesting that I subscribe to Office 365? Why does it not recognize that I have a licence, whose number I cannot find, and let this Excel spreadsheet run as they have on this laptop in the past? The Office applications work as they should on my wife’s laptop.
As well, is there anyway I can find the licence number for the Office 2010 version that I have for these three machines?
Any insight that anyone can provide will be greatly appreciated.
