Tying together a couple of ideas that may not hold.

The new server launch, once addresses propagated and all that, went wonderfully. I even started getting mail notifications, first time since the Octoberish troubles. Then I got a lot of notifications.

For myself, I have decided to subscribe only to a topic where I may expect a reply myself, or is of critical interest. All other general interest items will now be considered Favorites instead. Maybe this is how others have done all along. My primary interest is to reduce load in my mailbox. But I also recognize the traffic load created for the AskWoody servers. So…

Currently, when submitting a comment, I am default subscribed and can opt-out by clearing the checked box.

Propose to change that to opt-in subscribe. Or, as another possibility, opt-out of ‘add to favorites list’. Could also do both, but in my opinion that becomes crowded. Thanks to all involved.
