Is it an IMAP account? There are some posts on the internet about this, search for “outlook delete strikethrough”. My wife is running Office 2003 (including Outlook 2003) on W10 1909, and does not have the problem, but it is POP.

Right now Outlook is set to mark things for deletion, and to then keep those items visible. There are two ways you can fix this:

        * Hide items that are marked for deletion.

        * Do a purge of the items marked for deletion.

There is probably a setting that will allow you to auto-purge your mail folder whenever you exit Outlook, or perhaps for items older than a date you will specify.

You need to purge these items from time to time. If you hide them but don’t purge them, they will fill up your mailbox.
