In Outlook at Tools|Options|Other|Advanced Options is this parm: Enable mail logging (troubleshooting). According to http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en;300479%5B/url%5D, turning the option on should produce a log in C:Documents and SettingsLocal SettingstempOPMLOG.LOG. But after turning this on/off, I can’t find any hint of this log file anywhere on my system. Can someone else please check on their Win2k system and verify that a log file does get created?
Why do I want this file? I use a spam filter program that works as a proxy. Since Win2K SP3 or the install of Outlook 2003, I have had nothing but problems with this application. With the proxy enabled, MOST of the time, it doesn’t work. Mail does not get downloaded to the spam program. If I turn the proxy connection off, then all mail comes through into Outlook. All the author can suggest is to keep increasing the timeout setting in Outllok (which is now up to 5 minutes). The program worked fine on Outlook 2000/Win2k SP2. The author of the program doesn’t really have a clue as to what the problem is or how to shoot it (aside: if you can’t get to the bottom of any problem, then maybe you shouldn’t be writing code in the first place). Any one have any ideas or suggestions?
