Is there a way to format all TASKs (old tasks and ones to be created) to Plain Text like you can do to an email message?
Whenever I cut & paste something into a Task it brings along the formatting from the originating document. I cut and paste from Word, Excel, Wordperfect and the internet. Currently, I select the whole wazoo (CTRL A) and paste it into a Notepad document, strip out whatever isn’t necessary and cut and paste back into the Task. If I could format any/all Tasks to be Plain Text I could be a bit more productive.

Sorry, but no. The Body of Calendar and Task Items are Rich Text Format by default, and so inherit any formatting you paste in.

It’s rather strange that the Edit | Paste Special dialog doesn’t have a “Plain text” option…

Well, hold the phone! I have never used the Paste Special dialog in a Task, so when I tested Outlook 2003 with some Word text for a Task Body, I got the usual range of options (word Doc, HTML, RTF, Text, Picture), and it looks like “Text” is “plain text”. So I sit corrected.

Outlook 2002 (in Office XP) has the following options in Edit | Paste Special:
– Microsoft Word document
– Formatted text (RTF)
– HTML
– Picture (Metafile)
There’s no Text option. I’m *not* using Word as e-mail editor in Outlook.

In Outlook 2007 there is no “Paste Special”. However, in the Format Text ribbon there is a “Clear Formatting” button whose tool tip says “Clear all formatting from the selection, leaving only the plain text.”. BTW, could the OP change the Task Form so the body is plain text? I don’t have an Outlook 2K available to check.
