To blur your background in Skype, your computer processor needs to support Advanced Vector Extensions 2 (AVX2). For more information, check with your computer manufacturer.

For Intel-based CPUs it’s everything from Haswell (i.e. series 4 – year 2014) onwards.

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/hardware-requirements-for-the-teams-app expresses the requirement for AVX2 for blur, I wondered whether it’s a very recent requirement but https://web.archive.org/web/20200418082754/https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/hardware-requirements-for-the-teams-app (18th April) there was the same requirement.
