Overnight a load of my downloaded files were changed to PDF files without my knowledge. Can you please advise as I need them back as Microsoft Office files.

That happened to me once, when I used another browser to download a file. I remember renaming the extension from “pdf” to “docx” (without the quotation marks). Try one of your files to see if that works for you, using the relevant Office filename extension. Good luck.
I can’t see how files can be changed to PDF without some intervention.
More likely, you have associated DOC files with a PDF reader (do they files still have a DOC extension?).

Was the file extension changed from .docx to .pdf?

Was the default app to open the file changed?
