I recently had a new larger hard drive fitted in my laptopwhich therefore required a Windows 10 re-installation as well as re-installing all the other software I had been using.

All of these went back ok, except for Python.  I have written several Python programs some of which use PILLOW which has to be installed after Python.

The Python and PILLOW installation seemed to go ok, except that programs that use PILLOW could not see it and didn’t work.  Other programs were fine.

I uninstalled and re-installed Python several times, and now seem to ahve created a further problem.  The command window can no longer “execute the specified progran when I enter “Python” or “PIP” which is required to install Python add-ons.

The Python programs are still running in the IDLE window, and other programs seem fine.

Have I inadverently messed up some aspect of Windows?  Or what?

    Any advice welcome.  Thanks.

No full image backup before installing new storage device ?
With image backup you could restore all your setting, apps, data…to the new storage device.

i decided against that because I wanted a clean Windows.

      Maybe not next time…

      Sorted – PATH problem.

I have been advised that it is a good idea to do a clean Windows installation from time to time, as all sorts of rubbish gets into the system over time. which slows the computer down.  I’ve done it many times before and re-installed the software successfully without too much trouble.  So having sorted this problem myself, I will probably continue to do so.
