Ever since I upgraded from 1909 to 20H2 (11 days ago) in the Reliability Monitor I have lots of Informational Events every day that say “successful application reconfiguration”. Today there were 1300 of events, yesterday 1300, three days ago 433, four days ago 761, etc.

Is this normal? I don’t recall that I had this kind of activity every day in 1909. I am attaching a very short sample from one day.

Not normal, but could be caused by Dell or HP Support Assistant:

      What is “Successful Application Reconfiguration?”

      Windows 11 Pro version 22H2 build 22621.2359 + Microsoft 365 + Edge

Thanks for the link. Like @hms, these “Successful Application Reconfiguration”s show up in the Reliability Monitor 26 minutes after Windows Defender updates. It happens on both of my machines. I upgraded them to 20H2 10 days ago, but I also had them in 1909, but not as abundantly.

Is there anyone out there who uses Dell SupportAssist whose Reliability Monitor shows tons of “Successful Applications Reconfiguration”s every time Windows Defender Updates?

I used third-party anti-virus software as my main protection, but periodic scanning by Windows Defender is turned on.

Anonymous at #2312427 suggests opening Event Viewer and looking under Windows Logs > Application to see if there are many MsiInstaller events. There are, indeed, many — with the same time stamp as the “Successful Application ReConfiguration”s occur. So, what does that mean?

Anonymous also suggests opening Task Scheduler to see if there might be an unusual trigger in there. But, I don’t know where to look or what to look for, once I open Task Scheduler. Any suggestions here?

I uninstalled Dell’s SupportAssist, but it didn’t make any difference. Still, every time Windows Defender updates, there are something like 300+ reconfigurations listed in the Reliability Monitor. Some of them are repeated several times.

I had that issue a while ago, but the reconfig showed a pop-up several times a day. I think I ended up rebuilding as there were other things I wanted to sort and it was a 5 year old machine.

      cheers, Paul
