First Microsoft Pluton-powered Windows 11 PCs to start rolling out this year

IMO Microsoft doesn’t have a stellar history with either hardware or Windows Update so this news about a Microsoft-designed security chip rolling out this year – remotely updatable via Windows Update – may send a shiver through you…

The first PCs to incorporate Microsoft’s Pluton security chip will be available from Lenovo this May.

Thanks to Pluton, these devices will be able to receive updated firmware using Windows Update.

Anyone remember Geena Davis’ now-famous quote in the 1986 film ‘The Fly’: Be Afraid – Be Very Afraid! 🙂

(Please – no rumours that internally its code-name is SkyNet. After all, SkyNet apparently worked… after a fashion.)

Your mileage may vary on your computer, but Microsoft is unable to manage the one TPM chip we have. So is there good reason to trust them?
