    Hi all

I have a server here with client connection issues and noticed that it has not been updated in 16 months. Whats the best practice here?  Will I just go back log download and install the updates from the master patch list?

    As always cheers RT..

Are you using any sort of patching tool like WSUS/Intune?

Because it’s 2016 and thus on the cumulative model you can look for the recent SSU and then the most recent cumulative update.

You don’t have have to go back in history – just grab the August.

That said does it have any additional roles like being a domain controller or print server?  As you may need to tweak some times (printers/dcom) if it’s either of those roles.

Thank you Susan on further invistagation I found the server has not been updated in 16 months so not supprised it is having client server connection issues.

What is best practice in updating here?

Will I grab the updates from the MPL and install one after another?

It is not a DC or print server just shares and CRM.

You only need the two Susan mentioned.

        Windows 11 Pro version 22H2 build 22621.1483 + Microsoft 365 + Edge

Updates done but for some reason I can not turn on network sharing in ” Network and sharing center ”

In “Advanced sharing settings” I turn all on and save but I do not get an administrator permission window to allow the changes I just click save and the window closes. When I go back into advanced sharing settings all the settings I switched on are now off.

In services DNS Client is set to automatic and is on

Function Discovery Provider Host is set to automatic and is on

Function Discovery Resource Publication is set to automatic and is on

SSDP Discovery is set to automatic and is on

UPnP Device Host is set to automatic and is on

      Any ideas guys..

I think it is the SMB 1.0/CIFS Client, but when I click on “Turn Windows features on or off” rather than default window it opens Server Manager and its add role wizard not the Turn Windows features on or off window?

Anyone come accross this instance where Network Discovery will not turn on?

Solved the network discovery problem it was the firewall that was blocking sharing so created inbound and out bound rules.
