      October 3, 2019—KB4524157 (Monthly Rollup)/Applies to: Windows 7 Service Pack 1Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1/Release Date:October 3, 2019

IMPORTANT This is a required security update that will be offered to all customers automatically. To help secure your devices, we recommend that you install this update as soon as a possible and restart your PC to fully apply the mitigations. Like all rollup updates, this update supersedes any preceding update.

Note This update does not replace the upcoming October 2019 monthly update, which is scheduled to release on October 8, 2019.

So what will happen if I will not install this update today or tomorrow; will there be a new KB4524157 (with the same name) released on the 8th (the official montlhy update) issued, that DOES contain this fix? Or will I have to install two KB4524157’s, regardless of the fact I don’t plan to install either of them for the next couple of days?

The fix will be contained in the Oct. Rollup. Whether it will have the same KB number or not, we won’t know until Patch Tuesday. You will not have to install both, the already released  KB4524157 and whatever the official Patch Tues. update is called.

        So WAIT – we’re still on DEFCON-1.

On W10 1903, yesterday evening kb4524147 was offered – but as an optional update. So much for This is a required security update. Anyone can shed any light?

Most probably it will become the Oct CU on Patch Tuesday. Wait for it.
