When I check for new posts I would like a list of topics with new posts. This should be a much shorter list than the “new posts” list, which shows multiple replies for the same topic.
Currently I use a combination of “recent replies”, “recent topics” and “new posts: last day(s)”.

Additionally, I can’t seem to force unread topics to be read and I don’t really want to wander through all of them. 🙁

    cheers, Paul

I use the Recently active topics link on the right side to show topics sorted by date of last post. Then within a given topic, use your browser’s search for “new” (or “report new” or a variant) to find new posts.

Just wondering if you have checked out the Tips for using the Lounge forum area Paul, such as:
      Search for Topics Links

      🙂

“Recently active topics” seems to be pretty close, but it requires that you remember where you were up to – a bit tricky after 2 weeks on holiday. 🙂

Kirsty, I did read “Tips” but I don’t subscribe to posts – I get enough email from my other forum (KeePass) – and the other suggestions don’t really help for the way I like to work.

      cheers, Paul

The Recently Active Topics link in the right hand panel gives a view that includes Unread Topics and posts you have read that have Unread Posts.

        RecentlyActiveTopics

Unread Posts is the arrow to the right of the topic title in the 2nd line, and the bottom line is the unread topic. I guess you are asking about something else, but I’m not quite sure what, sorry.

Also, you may find information of use in Keeping up with responses topic

A subset of Recently Active like “since last visit” would drop the list to a point where you had a limited list, instead of the very large list currently. It’s still workable, you just have to decide when you think you have read all the new posts.

That’s not an option that comes as standard, so would need to be written by the devs. That means $$$

We’ll get it added to the list, for the next phase of upgrades, in case it is something that can be achieved without too much cost or potential conflict with other installed options. Thks.

Hi @Paul-T , this is not the tool I usually use but I have seen on the righthand sidebar, under the title “Search for Topics”, the third line is ‘New posts since last visit‘. This of course refers to the last time viewed while signed in under your account, not while visiting unregistered, and is only viewable after signing in again. Does this item meet your needs? If this is a new item added in last several hours, or is the tool that already disappointed you, I apologize for inserting my comment.

I see that trying to ‘at’ a username that includes a space truncates the handle. In this case ‘Paul T’ would lead clickers back to my userpage ‘Paul’ which displays handle Cascadian. Apologies for any confusion. I am open to options that would fix this.

The system doesn’t handle spaces, so it adds a hyphen instead. I’ve edited the link up, so it should work as intended now 🙂

See, now if I had only hovered first I would have seen that. Thank you for pointing it out. I will remember that for manual use.

Had met with a few hours of 504 and 502 messages, but all seems fine again. Presume you would see that as well.

If I understand what @paul-t is suggesting, is the listing of topics with new replies and unread topics, not a list of individual, unthreaded replies or a list with topics that have already been read… (it’s possible this may be an incorrect interpretation!).

under the title “Search for Topics”, the third line is ‘New posts since last visit‘.

That one seems to be inconsistent in how it decides when the last visit was – at least I haven’t worked out what it uses, as sometimes you get a nice list and other times you get nothing.

      cheers, Paul

p.s. Kirsty has the right take on my suggestion.
