Is it possible that we are getting spam in our emails from the internet connection to our 2 Lg TV’s?? We get our internet from our local Broadband company, using the router they provided.

The amount of spam in our emails is getting un-manageable, we also receive a lot of advertising when using our internet with our house Wi-Fi on our phones.

    Appreciate any feedback.

    Thank you

    TJ

Having an internet connection does not generate spam. Using an email service and making your address public does.

If you have used your email address when connecting your TVs to the internet, then the address may have been harvested by the TV manufacturer. This is why I use disposable email addresses for IoT devices.

The other requirement is an email provider with a good spam filter so the rubbish is either blocked or sent straight to the spam folder.

      cheers, Paul

Our email service provider allows us to setup 100 “Alias” email addresses.

Each time we need to setup a “new account” we simply create a new alias.

Then we simply keep track of our accounts on an spread sheet. We are now tracking 200 accounts.

If we start to receive spam addressed to one of the alias email address, all we need is to do is remove the alias from our email account and, if appropriate, update our contact information with the website that we used it to registered with.

You can check if your e-mail address is being used by spammers.
