I just reinstalled my windows 7 64 again. Checking for the windows updates I’ve installed about 144 of those KB files, sorting out the good ones from the bad ones. I know from reading here one the Ask Woody site somewhere that there’ 2 KB files that are needed to get, back in march KB4490628 & KB4474419. I have the KB4474419 2019-3 one &  the KB4474419 2019-8 one and now showing up again for KB4474419 2019-9, I’ll also get it again. I haven’t seen the KB4490628 one showing up at all for “Check for Windows Updates”.

Can Someone tell me if I still need to install this one now that were already in the month of September. I went and got the KB4490628 file from the Microsoft catalog site wondering if I still need to install it.

        the KB4516655 update supersedes/replaces the KB4490628 update.

no need to get nor use KB4490628 anymore as KB4516655 should be installing that one from WU

Thanks for letting me know, I didn’t see this one showing up. After checking for updates It shows just these 3 new ones that says Important KB4514602, &  4516065, & the KB4474419 2019-09 one again for the third time. I believe these 3 are safe to install, right. Maybe then the Kb4516655 one will show up right after installing those others first & to  check for updates again hopefully?

The Servicing Stack Kb4516655 will not show up in the WU Important Update queue until there are no other pending updates (checked or unchecked). SSUs have to be installed exclusively (by themselves). You can either HIDE all pending updates temporarily, or install all of them so that the queue is empty.

whoops. it seems the KB4516655 servicing stack update fails to install on Win7 systems without the previous SSU KB4490628 update installed (MS made a boo-boo on their support article 4516655 saying it superseded the KB4490628 update but in reality it was not. on the MS update catalog site, MS got the info about KB4516655 correct where it does NOT replace KB4490628 but KB4516655 does replace KB3177467)

so I take back my statement of KB4516655 superseding KB4490628 in my previous post as KB4516655 truly requires the older KB4490628 update installed first.
