Sounds like another good reason to stick with FF. Mine auto updates so it stays current. Been using it since forever. It’s the only one I have found that easily handles 100 tabs.

      - Thinkpad P15s Gen1 20T4-002KUS, i7-10510U, UEFI/GPT, 16GB, Sammy 500GB M.2.
      others...
      - Mint Cinnamon 21 current, Win 10 22H2. WuMgr. HP laserjets M254dw & P1606dn, Epson 2480 scanner.

” At this time you need to be on 98.0.2 for Firefox.”

No. Knowledgeable users should use Firefox ESR. Current version is 91.7.1. This is the ONLY SANE browser out there! It’s the one used by businesses and hospitals, etc which cannot be constantly updating. I won’t use a browser that constantly updates for no reason and that is what ALL of them do except the ESR version of Fx which I have used since its inception years ago.

      https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/91.7.1/releasenotes/?utm_source=firefox-browser&utm_medium=firefox-desktop&utm_campaign=about-dialog

I also use the last version of Basilisk (which was forked off Fx 52.9 ESR), but now that it is no longer being developed, I’m very careful with it (it’s still my default browser). I don’t use it, or any of my browsers for my Dell computers, for internet purchases. I got an Apple smart phone with FACE ID for that. But it’s a major hassle to get Apple and Microsoft products to play nice together (like fighting to get photos on the iPhone uploaded to my Dell computers).

I won’t EVER touch Chrome browser as I value my privacy and still cannot understand why so many in the USA say privacy no longer exists. What they really are saying is that they are too lazy/uniformed to fight for their privacy (here’s where we could learn a thing or two from EU). The sad and frightening thing is that Mozilla stands alone against the tyranny of Chrome as the other browsers all are based on Chrome including Edge. If it were not for EU, I think by now we would have nothing but Chrome and Google controlling the internet.

      Don’t neglect other software either.

We seem to spend more and more time updating than using these days🙄 and occasionally, even more time fixing whatever broke as a result of the update.

This post reminded me to check whether Brave was current. It wasn’t. It got stuck on version 1.25.72, which dates from last summer. I gather that the problem has something to do with the transition to a more recent version of TLS that took place a few months ago. I installed the current version of Brave without having to uninstall the old one, and it works fine.

Whatever else might be said about Brave, it might be worthwhile security-wise to use different browsers for different purposes.

Same story as wdburt1’s, but with Vivaldi.

But, recklessly, I am not updating Waterfox, because the new versions are considerably less than great. But I have installed on it enough protective addons to expect to be relatively safe still using this older version of the browser.

Relatively safe compared to what? Ah, that is a very good question.

i wanted to rip out ff regular and install -esr, just hadn’t got around to it, so i succumed to the impassioned plea. got the download folder fix set to false. btw, what is the new to me >General>Tabs>Enable Container check box, anyway?  thank you, Susan…

btw, what is the new to me >General>Tabs>Enable Container check box, anyway?

Do you see the “Learn More” Link? Click on it.
It’s a Firefox extension that keeps your tabs in different containers, isolated from other tabs in containers — no passing of info from one site to another.

Checking on Vivaldi’s cadence I found the following in a Vivaldi discussion forum.
It is from “Team Vivaldi” and may amplify MrChaz comment (my emphasis):

“There used to be a new Stable release roughly every 6 weeks. Last year Chromium moved over to 4 and 8 week release schedules and we chose the follow the 8 week path, so releases now occur a bit less frequently.
Between major updates we usually have a few minor updates with security fixes and fixes for bad bugs (e.g. crashes).
Snapshots are released rather irregularly but frequently
        .”

Am I correct in assuming that some (or all?) of those browsers listed by MrChaz are Chromium ones?

There is no such order and Apple will not comply it there where.

      Apple concerning dating app payments

Dating app payment has nothing to do with opening the app store which mean sideloading…
Apple complied with dating app payments via 3rd party, in Netherlands.

Update on StoreKit External Entitlement for dating apps

      • #2435558

You commented on a quoted headline from an article regarding dating app payments saying, “There is no such order”. But there is:

Apple has not fully complied with order to open up App Store -Dutch watchdog

BRUSSELS, March 25 (Reuters) – Apple (AAPL.O) is set to be hit with another fine next week for not fully complying with an order to open its App Store to rival forms of payment for dating apps in the Netherlands, Dutch antitrust watchdog ACM told Reuters.

You took the headline out of context and there was no reason to separate the headline from article link provided with it.

[@].b Thanks for keeping the quality a bit up. This story is much wider than some may wish to recognize because they all know best.
The urge to comply to the whishes of EU regulations will be strickter very soon.

This is wrong fake news heading. Requirement for 3rd party payment isn’t ‘opening up’

      • #2435757

The Dutch antitrust watchdog organization apparently says it is.

This is not apparently, the Dutch ACM is very precise and thorough.

Gentlemen this post is now closed and has drifted to off topic.  The topic was browsers, not dating apps.  Thank you for your time.
