Interesting article: I get there a different way, but with the same result. But:
The phone recharge cycle thing perplexes me. I have a Galaxy 10e. I plug it in once a night. Every night. I have had the phone for four years and it is rarely below 70% at bedtime, except when I am on the phone for a long time. I think I hit 60% once this year. (I note my PC has always been my primary device so I suspect this has a major impact.)
There are more factors than the number of charge cycles that affect the longevity of a lithium ion or lithium polymer battery.
If you keep the battery at a high state of charge, it can shorten the battery life quite a bit without ever going through a charge/discharge cycle. This effect is highly dependent on temperature. A battery kept cool will tolerate being at full charge more than one at higher temperature.
If there is a setting for your device to keep it from charging to 100%, that can help preserve the battery. It will, of course, shorten the battery run time during the day.
Charging the battery rapidly can also shorten the battery life. My understanding is that it’s about the heat generated… charging fast makes the battery hot, and heat is the enemy.

If you mean the little blurb from Susan’s article, the bit at the top of the thread about the “PSL,” rest assured that this American’s only awareness of this phenomenon is from the internet, through posts like this one.
Now you know what really is a weird obsession to me? Vegemite.
