Modern cars are a privacy nightmare. … All 25 car brands we researched earned our *Privacy Not Included warning label — making cars the official worst category of products for privacy that we have ever reviewed.

I was reading through that recently and was reminded that privacy is the reason I canceled my Model 3 preorder years ago. With Tesla, at least, I saw it coming.

But to see the lengths other manufacturers are going to get all that data they definitely should never have… sickening.

Once upon a nightmare, had OnStar in the H3 we bought used. No thanks. I got up under the dash, disconnected the plugs and pulled the modem out. Long live the truck or car that has a brake and gas pedal powered by your very own foot. There’s GPS on the device, or maps in the glove compartment. Just make sure you fill up at the gas station before a trip. Too much software, not enough hardware in the auto industry.
