MS-DEFCON 2:
Patch reliability is unclear. Unless you have an immediate, pressing need to install a specific patch, don't do it.

AskWoody PlusIn Windows XP days I had a full tower computer with an ATI graphics card and 2 monitors.
With ATI’s Hydravision I could drag a window and have its contents become transparent but still remain visible/readable, while other windows behind it also remained visible/readable.
For example, this was very handy to compare almost duplicate texts: slide one window on top of the other (without releasing the mouse button) and any differences would almost literally jump out.Now (being retired) I have a, well, not really a laptop but a portable with desktop ambitions. Its graphics card, nVidia GeForce GTX 970M drives the built-in screen and an external 27″ monitor.
I miss Hydravision’s nifty display tricks.Does anyone know of comparable software that does the same thing with folder and program windows as Hydravision did?
P.S. I already tried “Liquid Drag” and “Actual Window Manager”. They don’t do what I want.

AskWoody LoungerTry Ghost-It from here:
https://web.archive.org/web/20070822053105/http://home.rochester.rr.com/artcfox/GhostIt/
It’s a very old program designed for Windows 2000/XP, but it seems to work OK in Windows 10 [202H].
You can right click the ‘Ghost’ control in the Notification Area and click a window title bar to make it transparent so you can drag it over another to compare contents.
Click the image below to see a short video of how it’s started by simply d/clicking its icon in the download folder and its basic form and use.-

I was wrong about Actual Window Manager. Its tool Actual Transparent Window exactly fulfills my wish.
Still, thank you for your suggestion.
