Thought this would be the appropriate forum to post this in; I read this on Bleeping and nearly dropped my teeth:

Tiptoe through these .gov Tulips real carefully, people, and do watch the land mines.

Man, this is getting hairy, and it’s only going to get hairier.  🙁

Indeed The Register had its usual daily take on it this Morning: scary stuff with “Man in the middle” exploits a very real possibility using Govt Services online if you ignore the Browser warnings.

The NASA email server and a NASA scientific data archive I use regularly are still up and running. I really have to use them, so whatever happens, happens. I have always felt that living in the USA has many advantages at the cost of occasional troubles, some harder to accept than others. “Sir, I am a terrorist, and am here to kill you. Please, understand that this is not personal. Just doing my job.” “OK, I see that you, with that bomb and that gun,  are leaving me with no better option, so then, please, don’t mind me and go ahead. I have lived a fine and interesting life in this country and, after a brief bit of pain, if you know your job (and it looks like you might), I won’t be around to worry or have problems because of this or anything else anymore, so no big deal.”

But closing down the government, whatever the reason, is bad for the living in many ways that now we are starting to appreciate with increasing clarity — and are not even close to finding out what they all are… So this looks like is going to be a real education.

And for some _real_ FUD: …is showing up in Chrome 71 as “insecure”.

As Peter Ustinov used to say,

        “Oh, my…”

        Who will guard the guardians?
