Ubuntu announced its 20.10 (Groovy Gorilla) release almost 9 months ago, on October 22, 2020, and its support period is now nearing its end. Ubuntu 20.10 will reach end of life on July 22, 2021.

At that time, Ubuntu Security Notices will no longer include information or updated packages for Ubuntu 20.10.

The supported upgrade path from Ubuntu 20.10 is via Ubuntu 21.04. Instructions and caveats for the upgrade may be found at:

        https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HirsuteUpgrades..

Ubuntu 21.04 (LTS) continues to be actively supported with security updates and select high-impact bug fixes. Announcements of security updates for Ubuntu releases are sent to the ubuntu-security-announce mailing list, information about which may be found at:

        https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-security-announce..

        ? says:
huh? i did not know there was such an ‘buntu 21.04 LTS animal.

        https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases

else i would have been running it…

thanks for the info on the Gorilla, the only non-lts i’ve run was 19.04 “Disco Dingo.”

There isn’t a 21.04 LTS. That “(LTS)” bit is not in the original quote, or isn’t there anymore.

Still, I believe that it should have read 20.04 (which is a LTS) rather then 21.04, as it says that it “continues to be actively supported with security updates and select high-impact bug fixes” (emphasis added). “Continues” is not a word they would have likely used with a release that is only two or three months old, and the bit about it receiving security and “select” high impact bugs again suggests the LTS release, not 21.04.
