I am unable to double-click open from Explorer any Excel file. When I try to do so, an Excel window opens and I get a msg box with something like this:

Cannot find the file ‘D:WJFinanceMaxima gas.xls’ (or one of its components). Make sure the path and filename are correct and that all required libraries are available.

I can then drag the file into Excel and it will open correctly. Any ideas as how to fix this (other than reinstalling)?

    I’m on Win2k Pro/SP2 with Office 2000 SP1

      Hi,
The first thing I would check is in Excel under Tools-Options on the General tab, make sure that Ignore Other Applications is unchecked. If it already is, then it may be to do with your file associations. In that case, please repost and we can fix that.
      Hope that helps.

Choose Start, run and enter this into the box:

      “C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOfficeEXCEL.EXE” /regserver

(note that you may have to change the path).

This article, Q231342, may help. It also applies if Ezplorer uses DDE to open files when you double click.
