I have an older model Lenovo T400 ( I know its old) and it stopped updating at Win 10 ver 1607 or what ever it is. I have tried all hardware updates available, disconnected the video driver and went to the internal chip default through the BIOS (updated too), and disabled the Intel HD smart driver as was recommended by people with a T500 (very similar). I would like to continue to use this machine as it is very rugged with an aluminum case. Any thoughts? It has a Celeron processor, 4 GB memory and a 500 GB HD, standard Lenovo configuration.

Hm, a Celeron variant… one of those and only 4 GB RAM, I’d say it probably is a bit sluggish with Windows 10 anyway?

Would suggest maybe thinking about installing a lightweight Linux distribution instead, Lubuntu maybe.

Yeah its getting up there in age but seems to have the bare minimum i.e. 4GB Ram and a 500GB Disk, not going break any speed records but functional.
However it seems the Graphics Card may be the problem, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470 (256 MB GDDR3)? that’s what its showing and the AMD Support Page is showing no support for 3000 Series. https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/gpu-615 cant see any other Drivers out there, maybe try Driverscape (not a pay for Drivers site) but as always treat with care any anonymous Drivers https://www.driverscape.com/manufacturers/lenovo/laptops-desktops/6475b13/17135 its really quite good some advanced fiddling is required in some cases and couple that with, after a backup, a clean install maybe? and see how that shapes or its time for alternatives like Windows 8.1 possibly or one of the Penguin variants as suggested above.
