At the end of May I updated my Win 10 Pro v21H2 to Build 19044.2965 and then proceeded to move on to 22H2 using Edit Group Policy as outlined by Susan Bradley’s article in Computerworld April 10, 2023- Still using Windows 10 21H2? Time to upgrade.

I was waiting for MS to download my copy for a couple of days and got nothing so I shut down to review my situation. Now I realised I had followed my usual habit  to immediately Pause Updates for up to 35 days after an update. That Pause is still on. I think I am the one who is holding MS back-all I have to do is Resume Updates and sit back. Am I correct?

    Thanks for any guidance.

Yes, you are! You might have to wait up to 24-48 hours for the update to appear, but it eventually should, provided you don’t have any other update-blocking settings in place within Group Policy or within the registry. I’ve done all the Feature Updates from 2004-22H2 by using Windows Update, and they all went smoothly, taking no more than 10 minutes from beginning of the download to finishing the post-installation reboot.

Post back here if by Wednesday, June 7th you haven’t been offered the Feature Update to 22H2. That way we can help you do some digging to find what’s still holding things up before Patch Tuesday, June 13th.

Thanks Bob99. I am not aware of having made other update-blocking settings. I really don’t understand the ‘technology, I tread carefully and make notes for each update or change I make  .I try to follow the same steps each time i.e I do a manual update in an an attempt to see what goes on and try to reject things  Microsoft wants  and I don’t.

Will give it a shot and hope by the 7th I have achieved my goal.

Bob99 – Thanks for the help. After clicking on Resume Updates the response was immediate and Feature Updates to Windows 10 version 22H2 was downloading and installing taking only minutes.  Speed I had never seen before but the file was only 196 MB and including the restart I was done in 30 minutes.

      Many thanks.
